Hello Field Trip Friends!
I hope you’ve had a chance lately to travel a bit or read some books set in interesting locations.
I thought I’d share a few things that I made note of this past month.
I was inspired by my trip to Nicaragua. I will be returning in mid-March and need to practice speaking Spanish. I have been reading and listening to the weekly News in Slow Spanish. These Spanish podcasts are interactive so that I can read the text while listening to the news. When there’s a phrase I don’t know, I just click on it for an instant translation.
For those who think nothing much happens in Fresno, check out this story about a runaway unicorn named Juliette:
You can actually book Juliette for a photography session. Here is the link to Sandra Boos’ photography Facebook page.
Speaking of unicorns, you should read Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krouse Rosenthal (author) and Brigette Barrager (illustrator).
Uni is a sparkly, magical unicorn (just like all unicorns). The problem is that Uni really believes in little girls even though all the other unicorns tell her that little girls don’t exist.
Enter a little girl who really believes in unicorns even though everyone says that unicorns don’t exist.
The illustrations are beautiful in an old fashioned way and are filled with flowers, rainbows, and sweet forest animals.
This is a book about hope, friendship, and magic. All of the books written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal are creative and exceptional. Uni the Unicorn is especially wonderful.
Take a look at the beautiful blossoms behind the girls and the unicorn in this photograph taken by Sandra Boos. Aren’t they beautiful?
It is Blossom Trail time! It is amazing to see the trees in full bloom. Roxanne and I hit the trail and loved being surrounded by the soft and fragrant blossoms.
If you want to see the blossoms, you should try to go this week. Visit Go Fresno County for a map, information on identifying the trees, and incredible photos.
Yes, there are actually things to do here in California’s Central Valley!

I was also delighted to read about the runaway unicorn.
It was my smile for the day 🙂
