#WorldReadAloudDay

February 1, 2019 By Claire Annette Noland 4 Comments

While I think we should be reading aloud everyday, today is set aside by the nonprofit LitWorld, as World Read Aloud Day which spreads the word about the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories with children.highlights the profound power of reading aloud and sharing stories with children. We like holidays here at A Field Trip Life, and anything having to do with encouraging reading is worth celebrating.

My little book buddies are living now in Nicaragua. But with technology available, there’s no reason that I can’t read with them. We face timed and my heart melted when they asked for “one more book, please.”

Looking for good books to share with the children in your life? Here are some of my favorite bloggers and sites where you can find a world of multicultural books:

Kid World Citizen

Growing Book by Book

Pragmatic Mom

Now, I am off to our local women’s shelter where I am developing a library collection and encouraging moms to develop bonds with their children through reading.

What are your favorite books to read aloud? Share at #WorldReadAloudDay

My favorite of all times as a book to read aloud is The Little Prince. I read it in French to my own kids but the English translation is gorgeous too. It’s a long book, so I never read it at once. It often took a week, but my kids didn’t mind.
You must miss your little ones if they are now living in Nicaragua. But reading to them must bring them closer, though.

I always try to read The Little Prince each year. It must be wonderful reading it in the language it was written in.
I think I’ll try to read the Spanish translation.
