It’s a lovely day to share some love!
L is for Love: A Heartfelt Alphabet
by Greg Paprocki
Gibbs Smith Publishing 2018
BabyLit Board Book
It is never too early to introduce the vocabulary of love and this board book does it well. Some of the words chosen are lovey-dovey like K for Kiss and R for Roses but other types of love are shown as in C for Caregiver and F for Friends.
Is there anything stronger than a mother’s love?
The illustrations show a diverse group of characters in multicultural settings.
Each page brings to mind vintage advertisements.
This darling book is going to be my “go to” valentine gift. It’s better than candy!
There’s always room for more love-
Little Angels’ Alphabet of Love:
An ABC Book
by Joan Walsh Anglund
Little Simon 1997
Love is the language
of the heart.
Let us learn its alphabet
together!
From A is for Always to Z is for Zest, this tiny book creates an alphabet of love featuring little angels drawn in Joan Walsh Anglund’s signature style. We have this in our travel bag of books because it is just the right size to tuck in a purse, backpack, or pocket.
Gatita seems to be enjoying this alphabet.
Thomas can recognize all the letters in the alphabet. (He’s 3)
Evelyne and Thomas think this is a funny alphabet because the angels have bare bottoms.
Isn’t it interesting how two illustrators can come up with such different approaches to the same topic.
Signing off for the day – XOXO

I’m not very fond of angels, but I love the first book. Especially the illustration for “wedding” is very nice.
Tina Cho says
The first book is delightful! I, too, liked the wedding picture, incorporating cultures. I remember growing up with Joan Walsh Anglund’s illustrations in my grandma’s magazines.
Trine Grillo says
I love the illustration colors in the L is for Love: A Heartfelt Alphabet.
Anne Nydam says
Yes, that first book looks like a lot of fun with a subject that should be fun and not just earnestly serious.

Looks like a great book to start introducing little ones to the different kinds of love
