Beep, beep! Today I continue on my alphabetical journey through alphabet books. I just discovered a new book by one of my favorite children’s writers, but it only focuses on the letter B!
B IS FOR BABY
By Atinuke (author) and Angela Brooksbank (illustsrator)
Candlewick Press 2019
Recommended for little ones and those who love them
This scrumptious picture book follows baby who crawls into a banana basket and travels with her unsuspecting brother who is riding his bike through the countryside to Baba’s house. Readers see Baby’s little face peeking out of the basket as they pass items beginning with the letter B. Set in an unspecified African country, this is a joyous celebration of family illustrated in colorful mixed-media illustrations. I hope this author/illustrator create more books like this one for the other 25 letters of the alphabet!
Since travel and books are the main subjects here at A Field Trip Life, I’d like to share a book to take on the road when traveling with young children:
BACKSEAT A-B-SEE
By Maria van Lieshout
Chronicle Books 2012
Buckle your toddler into their car seat and hand them this book. This brilliant book drives through the alphabet with road signs from A for Airport to Z for Zzzzz. The illustrations are visually captivating with the signs in bright primary colors placed on a black road background. This is a must for little road travelers who will soon be on the lookout for road signs. This is a great way for emerging readers to “read” environmental print.
For today’s listening pleasure here is an unusual alphabet song sung by the group, Barenaked Ladies- (no, it is not x-rated)

SO FUN!!!

If I bought the first one I would feel compelled to buy the rest 25. The illustrations are wonderful.
Oh, and the song is very fun! 🙂
