It is the 10th anniversary of the #READYOURWORLD celebration of children’s books celebrating diversity in children’s books. I have been part of this movement since it began and have been excited to see the numbers of books featuring children and families representing many cultures, ethnicities, abilities, languages increasing over the years. This year, I’m happy to share
READ TO ME
written by Judi Moreillon
illustrated by Kyra Teis
published by Star Bright Books
READ TO ME is a sweet board book that is an invitation for cozy-time, lap time, bedtime reading. The rhyming text is calm and soothing and will be one that children will want to have read to them over and over. Fairy tales, nursery rhymes, picture books, family stories, and songs are celebrated as well as the process of reading which is explained in simple terms. The illustrations are exceptional with diverse characters of different ethnicities reading in global locations.
I love this verse:
For in this life,
I’ll need a map.
Let it begin
upon your lap.
This lovely book would make a wonderful gift for new babies as it is one that will encourage parents, grandparents, and caregivers to experience the joy of reading together.
Congratulations to all the fabulous folks who have inspired the #READYOURWORLD movement and the sponsors:
