The problem is that the twenty-six little lower case letters are not ready for bed. They are full of mischief and have plenty of excuses for their upper case parents who are trying to tuck them in. Each little’s personality is on display beginning with “a who is wide awake” and “b who still has a bath to take.“ The letters are illustrated in watercolor, pencil, and collage and pair perfectly with the sweet and silly rhyming text.
Finally,
“Who’s that snoring Zzzz?
See you in the morning abc’s!”
The Sleepy Alphabet is a fun bedtime book but children will probably want you to read it again instead of going to sleep.

I like the original Sleepy ABC by Margaret Wise Brown. The illustrations are beautiful and the words do lull me to sleep.

I love the original. Margaret Wise Brown wrote many bedtime books. I guess they were her specialty!
